"Fred Perry came from a working-class background, in a sport dominated by privilege and tradition. Tennis was not made for someone like him. His elegance - on and off the court - was never decorative: it was strategic. Dressing was a way to claim legitimacy, to move freely in a bourgeois world while subtly challenging it. This is a concept I've often explored in my work as a designer, and I applied it here for this collaboration: the tracksuit becomes 'a suit', the polo becomes 'a shirt', and is worn with a tie. A contemporary way for young people to 'dress to impress', whether for a first job or a first date." Kris Van Assche
